Remove number one spark plug.Rotate engine hand and cam separately until piston is at top for number one cylinder and ignition rotor is aligned at number on hole. Now you can install timing belt. Rotate engine by TWO crankshaft resolutions. Recheck timing marks. Now perform compression testve to with all spark plugs out on all cylinders. Aug 18, 2011. #1. hi my punto started devoloping a misfire again, i took it to my local garage and they ran a system scan. they found it said ignition failure "P0300" i had a look around and couldnt find any proper info. what does this code mean is wrong, my mechanic tells me it is likely to be coil or ECU as these are very common on fiat 1.2 Your Punto could be have a non-interference engine fitted, in which case you won't have any engine damage at all. All you have to do is fit a new cam-belt and tensioner and then re-set the valve timing. The 1.1/1.2 55/60/75 FIRE engine is a non-interference.. but some of the later engines are not. Aberdeen. The mk1 will be your best bet, it has more power (86bhp) but much worse mpg (about 6mpg on average).
