All of that brings us to this spy shot of the KTM 1290 SM-T. Suddenly, those two worlds collide. Imagining that 1,301 cc engine, which makes 180 horsepower and 106 foot-pounds of torque, in a bike with the upright riding position, wind protection, and panniers of the Adventure, has me absolutely salivating. Both the 1290 Super Duke R and 1190
Woody's wheels sells rotor adapters making all 950/990 fronts fit directly on all 1050/1090/1190/1290 adventure models. In fact if you call woodys and order a front wheel, it's the same wheel for either bike model, just the new gen bike owners are supplied a wheel fitted with the adapters. Couldn't be easier. #10. The 1290 Adv R has a roughly a six gallon tank. So 250 miles or so range for the 1290 Adv R . The 790 Adv R has a 5.3 gallon thank my first tank was 55 mpg my next tank was 52 mpg . So your 250 plus mile range for the 790. I have read so,e people get 60 plus mpg for the 790.
The 1190 seems like a great bike with an amazing motor and ground clearance. 150 hp and the weight offroad gives me pause, but the ride modes and traction control sound like they make things manigable. The ground clearance and suspension seem like what I want in an off road biased adventure bike.
Is the used one worth the $5k in savings or are the updates on the 2023 vs the 2020 substantial enough to not justify. 500 EXC, RC8, KTM 690, 790, 990, 1190, 1290
. I have an 1190 and 1290 right now, and previously owned a 1090 and 1190 at the same time. The 1090 is good, but way behind the others on power, especially mid range where the larger bikes really put a smile on my face. The difference from 1190 to 1290 is no as pronounced, I have the S models so the 1290 has the semi active suspension, this is
ALBUQUERQUE, NM. A number of my friends have recently purchased KTM 1090 Adventures. I have a 2008 KTM 950 Super Enduro R and am wondering which is the best bike between the two for riding dirt roads. The 950 is about 50 lbs lighter and is easier to mount and dismount than the 1090. I love my SE and would hate to sell it and find out later that
The 790 motor is livelier than the Hondaâsâa given, really, when you consider the capacity difference. The KTMâs internals are much lighter, and the motor spins up with an intoxicating velocity that makes you want to wick it up and cut all kinds of funky angles with that forgiving chassis.
Personally I think that the bolt shouldâve been made of TI too as titanium and steel fuse (or at least seem to) easily due to repetitive corrosion and heating/cooling. It should also be an M8 for strength purposes, just like Akrapovic clamp has. Both use same principal but Wings has a weaker M6 bolt instead.
My 1290 only gives me the âillegalâ warning when I turn ABS completely off. I get no warning when switching traction control or when switching to âoff-roadâ for ABS settings. It also makes me kill the bike to turn ABS back on after I turn it to the âOffâ setting.
